Product information

Portfolio management

Camako’s portfolio management feature provides an up-to-date snapshot of your organisation’s project portfolios and individual projects. The system automatically generates portfolio views based on project classification factors. In addition, users have the option to build their own portfolios.

Portfolio management views are based on project planning and execution data (including schedule, costs and resources) and a consistent set of metrics. The tracking view allows you to view cost and resource information for the portfolio, as well as status information on key indicators for projects.

Visual views help to clearly present the information you need. Business managers can quickly grasp the information they need to make decisions and can react to project issues when necessary.

Resource management

Camako’s resource management ensures that the project gets the skills it needs in a timely manner throughout its lifecycle. The functionalities also support the project in change management.

Resource management supports three key roles: project manager, line manager and project member. Each role has its own views. The project manager plans the resource needs of the project and sends resource requests to the line organisation for confirmation. The line manager has visibility of the people, workload and available capacity in his area of responsibility. On this basis, he/she processes the resource requests received.

Project members can view their personal resource reservations in their own view. Project members can be given the opportunity to update their own resource reservations if necessary.

The resource management process is customisable and adaptable to the needs of the customer.

Cost management

Camako’s cost management includes features for managing and forecasting time-phased cost information for projects of all sizes. Key concepts include cost structure, cost category, final cost forecast, actual, forecast and committed costs, budget.

A cost structure can be freely constructed as a hierarchical structure to describe where costs are incurred. Cost categories can be used to describe more precisely what kind of cost is involved. It is also possible to associate other classifiable structural information with the cost for reporting and data analysis purposes.
Time-phased cost data can be freely viewed at different levels of detail, in periods of time.

The cost management data maintained for projects and works is directly available for portfolio management reviews over these.
It is possible to implement interfaces to import actual and committed costs from external systems, allowing Camako to make efficient use of data already generated elsewhere.

With Camako’s own features, it is possible to implement various alert messages to responsible persons related to cost information, as well as traffic light visualisations for project and portfolio reviews.

Cost management uses data directly from Camako’s hourly accounting to produce actual labour costs and resource management to produce committed resource costs.

Planning and monitoring projects and works

Camako supports a wide range of project and work delivery models and structures. The aim is to enable the modelling of the organisation’s diverse activities in a common information system so that everything that is done becomes visible.

In Camako, different projects, projects and work come together. What they all have in common is the human resources and the money available to implement them. These organisational resources are, by exception, scarce. In all situations, there must be visibility into the use of limited resources and planning information.

In addition to traditional project delivery models, Camako offers support for agile methodologies and continuous line work. Through interfaces, Camako can be connected to other information systems, giving implementation teams more freedom to choose their own tools to manage their own work, such as Jira and MS Project.

Hourly reporting

Hours worked is a key monitoring tool for people-intensive projects. Special attention has been paid to the usability and smoothness of Camako’s hourly reporting: we are said to offer the best hourly reporting in Finland!

Document management and communication

Projects, jobs and tasks maintained in Camako can be linked to external document management systems. Through browser links, Camako can also be integrated with various workgroup software, if required. In this way, Camako can make direct use of information maintained elsewhere and ensure that all relevant information is always accessible up-to-date and accessible via a single system, regardless of access rights.

It is also possible to save documents directly to Camako in various formats. The files are stored in a database, making them always accessible, regardless of time and place.
